Trent Lifting completes proof load test for offshore frame

Trent Lifting have successfully completed a 40 tonne proof load test on a Frame developed for an Oil and Gas application.

Our client initially approached us with an enquiry to supply four new shackles following a design change, but through ongoing support from the team, the entire proof load test was moved to our Scunthorpe headquarters and witnessed by DNV.

The lifting frame was designed as a support structure for an offshore application and the proof load test was to verify the tolerance of the frame and the lifting gear system before it was lifted onto the oil rig.

To complete the test we took accurate deflection measurements before, during and after the test to ensure the equipment returned to its original dimensions after the load was applied.

The client was extremely happy with the quality of work provided by Trent Lifting for this Project.

Martin Dale, Engineering Manager for Trent Lifting, said: “We are very pleased to have carried out the test under stringent conditions and that the frame has been proven fit for purpose.”
